Hi Friends,
I scrambled, trying to balance motherhood and running a business. I didn’t know where to start or how to start, and even when I got a handle on the first two, I’d miss out on an important mommy moment trying to master “mom preneurship.” I don’t know about you, but I didn’t dream of starting my own business to spend less time with my family. If you’re here, that’s likely your story too.
- You’re a mom
- You want the best of both worlds (motherhood & business)
- You don’t know where to start.
- You don’t know how to start.
- You have an idea, but you need help taking it to the next level.
- You’re scrambling to balance babies and boss life.
Listen, I hear you, and I’m here to help. That is what OFF THE RECORD MOM is all about. I built this website for people like me. It’s for the everyday mom who wants to be present for her kids. It’s for the mom who dreams of starting her own businesses but isn’t sure how and who wants to grow as a parent and a professional.
Here, at OFF THE RECORD MOM, we talk about all things ranging from “How to parent with patience,” “How to build your business from scratch,” and “The Summer’s Hottest Freakum Dresses.” I believe that us moms can do whatever we put our minds to. But, when we’re not fulfilling our “mommy duties,” and when we’re not confident in how we look and how we present ourselves to the world, it is a thousand times more difficult to excel at entrepreneurship: we’re preoccupied with mom guilt and insecurities. So, here’s a place for us. A place to be bad-ass, beautiful women. A place to be over the top, fierce and loving moms who make mistakes and own our mess. A place to be successful businesswomen with families and priorities outside of the confines of our careers.
Now, let’s be clear. I’m no perfect parent or blazing billionaire. Still, I have learned a few things over the years, and I know that I can help you start your business and not compromise your self worth or parenting in the process.
Again, I’m Diamond Janae, and I’m your new bestie, helping you on your journey from mom to mogul.
Feel free to keep reading if you want to know more about me!
In 2017, I became a first-time mom.
I’m a bit of an overachiever, and that definitely spills into my mom-life. I’m an over the top mom. I’m throwing birthday parties every year. I’m making costumes for all events, baking cookies for the other kids at soccer, and homeschooling long before it’s time. I’m all in.
That’s just the kind of person that I am. All or nothing.
I’m pretty straight forward. In fact, some may call me blunt. I like clothes (all of them), and I want to live a life that allows me freedom: Freedom of my time, freedom of my schedule, and freedom of my finances. All things that enable me to be the amazing mom that I am.
I have an Arts Degree from FIDM (The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising), with an emphasis on Fashion Design. I worked as A Technical Designer in the Fashion Industry for Perry Ellis, Macy’s, Target, and more. I’m a huge Alexander McQueen fan. Shopping is my happy place, and making clothes for my Barbie was my favorite childhood hobby. I’m just an overall fashion junkie.
I’m also creative, hard-working, and really driven. I’ve always wanted my own business. I’ve even dreamt about it since I was a kid. So, thank you for being a part of my vision.
Beyond that, I’m a regular girl. I love Romcoms, cute kids, and ice cream. My idea of a perfect Saturday is going to a soccer game (or any sporting event) with my husband and my son, eating good food, then relaxing on my comfy couch, and binge-watching my favorite shows.
As you know, I started this blog for people like me, moms who pretty much want it all but aren’t quite sure how to get it.
I’m not offering a magic wand or a crazy get rich quick scheme. I’m offering a place where you can hang, be friendly, and learn some essential skills to grow as a parent and business along the way. I’m here to share my life with my friends.
So, nice to meet you, friend.
